FREE Studying the Life of Joseph for Preteens and Teens, Part Two
Our exciting study of some of the famous people in the Bible has so far looked at Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Last month, we started to look at the story of Joseph. This month, let’s study the rest of Joseph’s story, the part found in Genesis 42-50. We’ll look at what happened, see what details we can notice, summarize the events that took place, and more.
This set of activities begins with Jacob sending his sons to Egypt to buy grain during the famine. It continues through the brothers’ first encounter with Joseph, the journey home, the return trip to Egypt, the second encounter with Joseph, the hidden silver, and Joseph’s revelation to his brothers of who he was. It follows Joseph and Jacob’s stories through the death of Jacob and then Joseph.
The activities encourage kids to take a closer look at the final chapters of Genesis. It asks them to reflect on some of the promises people made and share whether they think the promises were wise to make. It challenges them to think about why it is important not to allow ourselves to be too comfortable in a place that is not our true home.
Other activities include answering reading comprehension questions, unscrambling words from Genesis 45, completing a word search, solving a matching puzzle, and decoding the answers in a word puzzle. Students can choose key verses from the passages to memorize and also summarize what they read.
I hope the kids in your lives enjoy learning more about Joseph. Be sure to let me know in the comments who they’d like to study next!
