Everyday Joys
Since our blog contributors are Christian children’s authors, most of our posts feature children’s books, resources, or articles to inform parents, grandparents, and teachers of ways we can help children grow in their faith and knowledge of God. Today, I would like to let our followers know of a devotional book I am reading—and love! As we train our children in the way they should go, we also need to be refueled and encouraged in our own daily walk with God.
Everyday Joys is a devotional written by accomplished author, Tama Fornter, who is my friend as well as one of our blog followers. She has written many bestselling devotionals and picture books for kids, but this one is for us! The subtitle is: 40 Days of Reflecting on the Intersection of Ordinary and Divine.
I was drawn to this book before I opened it. The silky texture of the cover along with warm soothing colors, gave me a sense of peace and comfort as I held it in my hands. And once I began reading, I was hooked. The devotions are designed to be read one day at a time, but I could not put it down. I read several in one sitting, then closed the book to save the rest for later (sort of like saving a special treat to extend the enjoyment).
Tama writes with candid simplicity (and a little humor) to reach readers where they are at—in everyday life with mundane chores, frustrations, and demands on our time. Then she creatively weaves in spiritual lessons to help us see God in the ordinary day-to-day moments.
Powerful, sweet, thought-provoking, and inspirational, Everyday Joys is a treasure! It’s a book you will want to read more than once, and if you need a gift for someone special, this is it.
