Good Morning, God Loves You

My latest board book released a few months ago and I still smile every time I see it. Good Morning, God Loves You is another book I co-authored with my creative and talented daughter, Teri McKinley (and yes, I’m a bit biased). It’s published by Tyndale Publishing House and filled with colorful illustrations by Anita Smidt.
The idea for this book came from my daughter who reads to her sons both morning and night. She noticed that bedtime books are easy to come by—which makes sense since reading at bedtime is a common routine for many families—but finding a book for the morning is not as easy.
After brainstorming ideas and creating some rough drafts, we landed on the idea of having a variety of diverse families interacting with nature as it wakes up and honors our Creator. Anita Schmidt captured our vision perfectly and went above and beyond what we were hoping for. The full-color spreads are filled with active children and adorable, humorous animals interacting with nature. The phrase (and hence the title) Good Morning, God Loves You is repeated throughout the book to remind the reader of God’s never-ending love. The final spread offers a surprise for the reader and encourages a meaningful response.
Here’s a sneak peek at the opening spreads:

The book is geared for ages 0-5 and makes a sweet gift for babies or young children. Our purpose in writing the book is to remind little ones (and the adults who read to them) that God loves them very much!
Here’s to beginning and ending every day with God’s love!

Crystal, I love this. The illustrations are beautiful and fun . The idea of having a wake up book is a great idea. I love to get outside and hear creation wake up. I’m sure the families who share your book with their little ones will also find the peace and calm of knowing God loves them at the beginning of their day.
Thank you, Gail. We love how the illustrations bring our words to life, and we hope the message of God’s love gets planted in little hearts.
I love this idea of a Good Morning book! And you’ve done it so beautifully. 🙂
Thank you, Tama. Reminding children of God’s love is always a joy.
This is adorable!
Thank you, Jean!
This is a most adorable book! Perfect for a baby shower or early birthday gift.
I love that bringing board books to baby showers is a trend and hope it lasts! 🙂
Crystal, I am so eager to get this for my 4 month old grandson! A child is never too young (or old) to hear of God’s love. Thank you!
You are so right, Sharon! Thank you!
