Faith and Science for Kids- STEM and Scripture
In addition to writing for children, I’m an elementary school teacher. Many of my students enjoy reading. Others enjoy math. But all of them LOVE science! That’s why Brock Eastman’s book Faith and Science with Dr. Fizzlebop (published by Tyndale House) makes the perfect devotional book for curious kids. Why? Because the book contains 52 devotions with accompanying STEM science experiments to help boost a child’s interest and understanding of the Biblical topic.
I picked up an autographed copy when the author came to visit a local Mardel’s bookstore. Though surrounded by a line of fans, he took time to greet and visit with each one of us. But that’s not why I love the book. It’s the gems inside the cover that I appreciate the most!
Unlike typical devotionals, this book jumps into action with every entry. Eastman starts with a short introduction meant to prick reader’s curiosity. This is followed by a step-by-step, hands-on experiment, such as creating your own lava lamp, growing rock candy, or unleashing a tornado in a water bottle. Eastman then provides a kid-friendly explanation of the scientific concept revealed in the experiment before ending the section with retelling of a passage of scripture. To tie everything together, readers are given spiritual insights, questions to answer (aptly labeled to coincide with the scientific theme: “Collecting Your Family Data”), and a short prayer to share together. In addition to that, the devotional includes five bonus holiday-themed devotions and experiments and QR codes that link to a website where readers can find how-to experiment demonstration videos and more. Throughout the book, the artwork is bright and cheery, giving it great visual appeal. All in all, this devotional is a treasure trove of creativity with easy access to resources.
I encourage you to check out Faith and Science with Dr. Fizzlebop. I wish it had been around when my kids were younger. They would have had so much fun with it! (To be honest, I would have too.)

Thanks for letting our followers know.
This looks like a fascinating book of devotions and activities for kids. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Lora, for this review of another book on Science and Faith. I teach Science with a Christian worldview, and I also write on the topic.

Hello,
His work compliments what I teach and write about as well. A great way to glorify the Creator and redeemer, by teaching about His creation. I do the same as a science educator and author. You can check it out at Lightlabetc.com.
