I am happy to introduce Christian children’s author, Andrew Abel. He is one of our blog followers and I am pleased that he contacted us. He shared one of his picture books with me and I agreed to feature Zac is Back on our CCA blog.

When a new neighbor named Zac shows up at the door and asks for an egg, the other neighbor is happy to meet Zac and gives him an egg. But when Zac keeps coming back for two more eggs, then three more eggs, then four—the other neighbor wonders if Zac is fun and friendly or a bit annoying.

Zac is Back is a tale of a neighbor who is a little “different” and somewhat annoying, but readers will quickly fall in love with him. Filled with humor, suspense, and a few surprises along the way, this endearing story will be a memorable read for both the reader and the little ones who listen. The illustrations are engaging as Zac the blue puppet stands out among black and white print, and the fun rhyming story will make readers wonder what will happen next.

Before the book ends, Andrew does a beautiful job of weaving in the lessons of neighborly love and the saving love of Jesus. As a Christian children’s author, I know it’s challenging to incorporate biblical messages in a fictional story in a way that doesn’t feel awkward or forced. But Andrew found the perfect balance and a natural way to include the message of God’s love in Zac is Back.

This hilarious story will produce plenty of giggles, while reminding us to be kind to our neighbors and experience God’s love. Creative and whimsical, this book will quickly become a well-loved story, and the sweet ending will catch readers by surprise.

I would like to tell you why Zac needed all those eggs, but that would be a spoiler. I’d rather have you read the story yourself. You won’t be disappointed!
