Book Review of Let’s Go! Bible Adventures by Valerie Ellis

Check out this amazing book written by Valerie Ellis and illustrated by Carolina Farias and published by Tyndale. It is a creative combination of Bible stories and transportation fun!
There are twenty stories from the Old Testament and twenty stories from the New Testament, and each story is labeled with the passage of Scripture where you can find the narrative in the Bible. There are well-known stories such as Adam and Eve, Noah and the Flood, Abraham and Sarah, and David and Goliath, but there are also lesser known stories such as Naaman and Elisha and King Josiah. It is filled with rich biblical content, and offers a “Let’s Go Key” which gives a final takeaway for you and your child.
The book is written in rhyme, and at the end of each story includes a “What else?” fact helping you extend your knowledge about the content. My favorite aspect of the book is that each story includes a tie to a unique transportation element. There are tractors, cruise ships, backhoes, mail trucks, RVs, semi trucks, rockets…even an ice cream truck! What a fresh idea to draw kids into learning the Bible!
This book would make a wonderful addition to your home library and bedtime routine. I think it will spark curiosity in children and make them interested in learning the precious stories of the heroes of the faith.
Why not pair it with one of these “transportation activities” listed below!

- Play transportation charades by acting out the forms of transportation in the book.
- Build a road system for your car, truck, and train toys with materials you have around the house. Ideas: draw on paper or cardboard or build with blocks, legos, shoeboxes, or sandbox. Don’t forget to add ramps and obstacles. Let your creativity explode!
- Set up bins to “wash” your transportation toys. Great for outdoor play with the hose, too.
- Use a cardboard box or laundry basket for pretend rides in different modes of transportation. Chairs in a row work well for a train, too.
- Do a simple transportation-themed craft.

I also have a special board for trucks!
And a special board for tractors!
