Adopted for Good, by Dede Kolb, tells the true, bittersweet story of a precious little girl who suffered the sting of abandonment by family not once, but twice, before she even turned nine-years-old. 

The heartbreaking tale, however, ends with a happily-ever-after message of forgiveness and hope.  

Diana, born in a faraway country to a mom who could not care for her, spent early years of life in an orphanage. Diana felt unloved and out-of-place. Yet, somehow, Diana “knew in her ‘knower’ that she was special.” 

 When Diana was adopted as a preschooler and brought to America to live, Diana thought she’d found her forever home. Little did she know, the forever she dreamed of would last only four years. Treated harshly first in the orphanage and next by her adoptive mother, Diana felt even more unloved and unwanted.  

Still, she “knew in her knower she was born for a purpose.”  

Without warning, Diana’s new parents abandoned her and told her she would live with another family. Hesitant to give away her heart again, Diana feared she’d be rejected by this family, too.  

Diana’s forever family – this time for real – not only told her often how much she was loved and treasured, they also introduced her to Jesus. Little Diana now had a permanent earthly family and a forever Heavenly Father. Diana no longer felt unloved and unwanted. She was adopted – for good – into the family of God. 

This book, written by the forever-family, adoptive mom of Diana Kolb is a work of creative fiction in that the story included within the covers of the book are true, but names and certain details are changed to protect the privacy of the people directly related to the story.  

The factual basis of the story promotes hope and encourages readers to forgive past mistakes of others and hold onto the One who will never ever abandon or betray.  

Beautifully illustrated by Bethany Nerren, the book brings the reader right into each scene with vivid emotions brought forth in the faces of the characters.  

Families can learn a great deal about the trials and tragedies of abandoned children seeking a forever home with Adopted For Good. Families will also cheer loudly for Diana’s happily-ever-after.
