Today I’m featuring a wonderful Easter book by my friend, Lisa Robbins, illustrated by Tatiana Kochan. Even though it’s almost Easter, this is a story that can be read any day of the year. I know our followers enjoy hearing directly from the author, so here are a few thoughts from Lisa:

This time of year, we see lots of Easter books on the market. What is unique about The Cross Donkey?

The Cross Donkey is different from other Easter books on the market because the main character is Jack the donkey who leads children through Holy Week. Through Jack’s eyes, children will experience the triumphal entry, the crucifixion, and the resurrection. They’ll see that meeting Jesus changes him from a stubborn and troubled donkey to a donkey filled with joy. 

How do you hope your book will reach children with the story of Easter?

The book teaches children (and those who read the book to them) that our hearts are changed when we meet Jesus. The discussion questions at the end of the book will help to reinforce the message and help children grow in their understanding of obedience to God.

What other books have you written?

I’ve written another picture book, Whose Manger is This? In this book, eight misbehaving animals selfishly argue over the manger until they realize God’s Son owns it. They give baby Jesus gifts, bow to worship, and sing with praise. This book teaches that Christmas is for celebrating Jesus’ birth, and giving what we can is our response to him.
