New Children’s Books About the Disciples, the Cross, and the Resurrection
Danika Cooley is one of my favorite authors for kids because she makes hard concepts easy to understand and fun to read about! Her newest books in the Who Why Why series explore the greatest and most important story in the world – the story of Jesus. Her books explore Christian biographies, Christian history, and theology, and if you’d like to read my reviews of some of the other titles in her series, you can check them out here: How to Teach Kids About Moses, the Exodus, and the Tabernacle and The Christian History of Abolition Matters.
Who Were the Disciples?
No one is just ordinary in God’s story! In Who Were the Disciples?, Danika Cooley introduces kids to the twelve men who followed Jesus in a special way while He lived and ministered on Earth. It is a fun and exciting look at how God uses regular, everyday people who often make mistakes and messes of things and does extraordinary things through them. It is a great encouragement to trust in God’s awesomeness and not your own strengths, and it shows kids the importance of leading others to know Jesus.
What Was the Cross?
This book breaks big ideas into bite-sized pieces perfect for kids! In What Was the Cross?, Danika Cooley takes incredibly big ideas and breaks them down into language that is a perfect fit for ages 8-12. She explains why Jesus’ death was absolutely necessary and how without Him, every single one of us is guilty before God. It is the perfect tool to engage young readers and help them understand one of the most important events in all history. It’s a great fit for families, homeschools, and churches.
Why Did the Resurrection Happen?
You’ll love this look at the Resurrection and beyond! One of my favorite things about Why Did the Resurrection Happen? by Danika Cooley is that along with explaining what the Resurrection of Jesus means, she shows kids the rest of the story and helps them see what we are supposed to do until He returns, what happens to Christians when they die, the certainty of Jesus’ return, and the glorious forever that God has prepared for all those who love Him and trust Him. It is written perfectly for ages 8-12 and is a wonderful way to help kids understand the Gospel message and get to know Jesus better.
