Trunk or Treat with Faith by Karen Whiting

Trunk or treat continues to be popular and many decorators use a spiritual theme to connect children to Jesus. Try one of these ideas or make up your own.
Noah’s Ark might have a ramp going up to the trunk and an ark cut out covering the opening. This can have stuffies of animals or plastic critters. Add a rainbow and lights, a hanging dove, plus verses from Genesis 9. Have a picture book about the ark to read a few pages for each group that stops by the trunk. Pass out animal crackers or gummy bears or dove candies.
Fishers of Men can have fishing poles and nets, and maybe a pole for kids to fish up a treat. Add a blue sheet for the water, an anchor, and a book about the disciples fishing.
Popping with God’s Goodness can have lots of balloons and some can get popped to read a scripture inside. Add treasure chests to open where a helium balloon pops out with a scripture written on it. Scriptures can be Psalm 33:5 with nature pics; Psalm 146:7 and food; 2 Corinthians 1:4-5with a teddy bear, and Psalm 27:9 and friendly smiles; Psalm 133;1 and a happy home; Psalm 139:14 and a mirror inside the cover for the gift of their lives! Make paper poppers to pass out and lollypop snacks.
Falling for Jesus of leaves and even a pile of leaves to jump in. Pass out candy corn and fall colored candies. Have a piece of wood for a slide coming off the trunk for kids to race apples down the slide.
Creation Celebration can have light, the moon and sun, plants and critters, and Adam and Eve costumed treaters. Use verses from Genesis chapter one . Pass out milky ways. .Have a box for kids to open with a mirror inside to see one of God’s best creations! Add Psalm 139:14. Pass out animal stickers and animal related gummies or worms.
Connect the dots to Faith! Use polka dots to decorate and a game sheet of twister. Pass out connect the dot puzzles and dot candies. Put up a large connect the dot picture on the side of the car and let kids connect two dots. They can circle back to see if the puzzle gets completed. Use a red piece of yarn with pictures to connect people in the Bible.
Add more to whatever one you choose to use or think of how to make your opwn gun trunk. You can always add bubbles to blow to remind children to blow kisses to God.
