Callie and Me - ODB Oct 2019 - 2Xochitl (So-Cheel) E. Dixon has a heart for loving God and people. She’s passionate about intercessory prayer, nurturing spiritual growth, and the prayerful study and application of Scripture. Through daily struggles with chronic pain, due to an upper back injury she endured in 1992, she writes with transparency, ministers to the hurting, and inspires hope through worshiping God in all circumstances.

She serves as a regular contributor to Our Daily Bread, a ministry devoted to making “the life-changing wisdom of the Bible understandable and accessible to all,” and Guideposts’ All God’s Creatures.

Xochitl’s devotional, Waiting for God: Trusting Daily in God’s Plan and Pace (Discovery House Publishers, 2019) invites readers to inhale God’s Word, exhale prayers and praise, and rest in God’s constant and powerful presence when the wait feels too-long or too-hard.

Her first children’s picture book, Different Like Me (2020) features Callie the service dog and celebrates our differences and our sameness as God’s beautifully diverse and purposefully connected people.

She’s written devotions for multiple Our Daily Bread compilations, including God Hears Her (2017), Our Help (2017), and This Far by Faith: Legacies of the Black Church (2017). She’s published articles in My Amazing Mom (Chicken Soup for the Soul, 2018), Second-Chance Dogs (Revell, 2018), and Church Health Reader (2019).

Married for over 25 years to her best friend, Dr. W. Alan Dixon, Sr., Xochitl likes hanging out with their sons, A.J. and Xavier. She’s grateful for the privilege of serving God with her service dog, Callie, and enjoys traveling, art, photography, reading, theater, singing worship songs, studying Scripture, and spending time with family and friends.

She connects with readers and shares encouragement devotions, prayer, and Scripture-based memes on social media and through her blog.
