11 Tips for Sharing Your Home with Married Childen — 6 Comments

  1. A great article, Linda. I think it could be adapted to two other readers: when you have guests in your home and when you’re a guest in someone else’s home, and submitted to a magazine. You’ve raised some really good points here.

  2. Great post, Linda. While my kids haven’t returned home, they live in walking distance from our house (until our eldest moved a couple of towns away this Christmas). We enjoy impromptu visits during the week and proclaim Sunday as Family Day at our house where three and four generations gather most every week. It’s a joy and a blessing!

    Thanks for sharing,
    Dawn

    • What a blessing to have your kids so close, Dawn! You’re creating wonderful family memories on those Sundays when everyone gathers together. Love it!

  3. Great tips and insights, Linda! Our son and daughter-in-law lived with us for 5 months and it was a wonderful experience. We established some guidelines similar to what you have mentioned and it was smooth sailing. The only difference is that my daughter-in-law loves to cook (I do not) and I love to clean up after dinner (she does not) so we made a great team. I did not cook for 5 months and she did not do dishes for 5 months. We were both so happy!

    • We’re very much alike, Crystal! I don’t like cooking either and my son and daughter-in-law are wonderful cooks and love doing it. Sounds like your arrangement worked perfectly! 🙂
