YA Book Fun for Christian Teens
Today’s teens are busy. They have many activities vying for their time and attention. A book club is a great alternative to the many “good” choices they have, and can be done in a variety of ways.
Choose the Book
- Christian YA book
- Devotional book
- Interesting nonfiction title
Gather the Group
- Friends from church or school
- Other teen family members (near or far)
Plan the Meetings
- Choose a leader (teen, parent, church leader, bookstore worker)
- In person (at a home, church, school,or bookstore)
- Online (private Facebook group)
- Traveling book club
- Create a reading schedule
Read Away!
- Enjoy the time and the interaction
- No guilt for those who don’t read according to the schedule
- Plan food – Even the traveling book club could include a snack for the next reader.
What ideas would you add to the list?

Usually we think of devotions as a private time between the reader and God. Often devotional books can be used to jump start discussion and further Bible study with preteens and teens. If you are looking for a new devotional for your preteen, I encourage you to check out my books. They challenge the preteen readers to think about what the Bible says and how they could apply it to their own lives, using journaling and doodling.
