12 Days of Christmas Books Giveaway: Featuring Sophie’s Quest by Sonja Anderson
Join Sophie Topfeather and Timley Mouse on a Holy Land quest in Sophie’s Quest, a novel for kids ages 7-11. With Sophie and Timley, you’ll hear about the first Christmas from a Bethlehem sheep dog—a dog whose ancestors were with the shepherds when the angels shared the startling good news of baby Jesus’ birth!
Keep reading for a chance to win a free copy in the 12 Days of Christmas Books Giveaway.
The quest begins after an owl, Sophie Topfeather, finds a cross necklace in the Park. Her “wise” grandfather calls it a letter ‘t’ for ‘trouble,’ but she flies on board a ship bound for the Holy Land so she can find out what the cross means for herself. What she doesn’t realize is that a spunky mouse has crawled into her hat and is now with her on board the ship!
Thorns and thistles! This mouse thinks he can help her on her quest! Can she ever become friends with something she’s always known as just a “tasty snack?”
Can Sophie and Timley learn to trust each other and together discover the mystery of the cross? And what about all the trouble they can’t seem to avoid?!
This is a perfect book to read as a family or to read with an after-school or church book club. People of every age report that they learn a lot! The sequel, Sophie Topfeather, Superstar! continues Sophie and Timley’s unusual friendship as they explore the difficulties of bringing a divided community together.
There are discussion questions and activities at the back of the book and book club curriculum to download for free. Please see my website, www.sonjaandersonbooks.com, for further information. You can purchase Sophie’s Quest here.

My daughter loves books where animals talk. And I can teach her biblical truth in the process. Sounds great to me
I’m glad you like the concept! Good luck in the contest!
This sounds like a lovely book. What a nice cover.
Thank you, Cheryl! The beautiful cover was created by Maggie Kneen, a fabulous British illustrator. Her work reminds me of Beatrix Potter, who I have always loved!
I think my grandson would enjoy this.
Great! Good luck, and thank you for entering the contest!
Sounds like a great book! My 10 year granddaughter is in a book club so I will recommend this one to her!
Hi Karen, thanks for entering! And this is a perfect book club book! There are discussion questions and activities in the back of the book, and if the group is interested, I’d be happy to arrange a Skype visit! I did that with a group of 25 kids who met every week in July to discuss the book, and it was so much fun! A homeschooling mom and a church librarian in Ohio created a four-week book club curriculum that is available for a free download on my website. There’s a lot of great stuff there! I can always be reached on my website at http://www.sonjaandersonbooks.com and the group can easily find books on Amazon.
WOW! That would be fantastic! Thanks for the offer and I’ll hope for the best! I’ll be sure to recommend the book to her group.
Thank you, Karen!
This book sounds interesting. I’d love to win it to our church library. Thanks
Thank, Abi, for your comment! I think that Sophie’s Quest is a great addition for a church library! Many adults have let me know that they found it just as fascinating as their children or grandchildren, and some grandparents have said that it helped them explain their faith to a grandchild for the first time.
My granddaughter is just starting to read and she is so fascinated with all kinds of books and she wood love this book.
Good luck, Georgia! I’m glad you entered the contest.
