Book Review: The Hidden Village
The Hidden Village is a tender story about Manju and his discovery of an unknown village near his home in India. Pastor Dandak just gave Manju his very first Bible and showed him where to find the story inside about Jesus and a man named Zacchaeus. But when Manju ventures deep into the mangrove forest to find a quiet place to pray and read his Bible, he discovers a group of homes and villagers he’s never met before.
The villagers are starving. Manju tries to bring them food but knows he can’t ever give them enough. But even more than that, he wants to introduce them to his new friend, Jesus. What can he do?
The Hidden Village is a wonderful book to share with children. It’s rich with culture. It shows what it means to have a sincere heart for others. And it teaches young readers the value of sharing their faith and the joy of knowing Jesus as Lord. The delightful art helps bring the story to life.
I absolutely loved reading this story and felt like I was right there with Manju. It would be perfect for a church library or Christian school library. And what a great gift to give to elementary kids as a way to teach them to have the heart of a missionary and a heart to share the Gospel.
