Throw some sugar cookies in the oven and warm up a cup of cocoa because it’s Christmastime! As the snow is falling outside and your Christmas tree glows brilliantly in your living room, pull up a cozy blanket and a few colorful picture books to read with your kids!

            To start off our list of favorite holiday children’s books are three Christmas alphabet books to both entertain and educate even your youngest readers.

• C is for Christmas by Michelle Medlock Adams, Illustrated by Louise Hargreaves. This precious picture book brings Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and the whole Nativity scene to life in a way that will teach littles about the best part of Christmas—Jesus!
• M is for Manger by Crystal Bowman and Teri McKinley, Illustrated by Claire Keay. This rhyming storybook will soon be a family favorite that will entrance every reader in your home as it tells the story of Jesus chronologically.
• N is for Navidad by Susan Middleton Elya and Merry Banks, Illustrated by Joe Cepeda. The vibrant art and story found in this storybook is a great way to explore how people around the world celebrate Christmas. 
• Dachshund through the Snow by  me 😊 Michelle Medlock Adams, Illustrated by Ana Sebastian encourages your teeny-tiniest kiddos to be confident in themselves and treat others kindly no matter what they look like.

            Some Christmas stories will fill you with cheer as you and your family explore the rhythm of holiday poetry.

• All the Colors of Christmas by Matthew Paul Turner, Illustrated by Gillian Gamble. In this story you can explore the themes of Christmas and winter in lyrical verse. Everything from tree trimming to sledding is brought to life in this story.
• That Grand Christmas Day by Jill Roman Lord, Illustrated by Alessia Trunfio builds up the story in rhyming verse to the big moment of Jesus’ birth.
• The Silent Noisy Night by Jill Roman Lord, Illustrated by Kelly Breemer. How could the night of Jesus’ birth be silent if it was filled with animals and a baby? This book explores that thought through poetic verse.

Get your kids in a party mood with books that look at the joy surrounding Jesus’ birth and all who celebrated the first Christmas.

•  Happy Birthday, Jesus by Michelle Medlock Adams, Illustrated by Olga and Aleksey Ivanov. This tiny board book shows different ways we can celebrate Jesus’ birthday every year!

The last set of books focuses on the greater gift that Christmas brings to us with the birth of Jesus.

• What is Christmas? By Michelle Medlock Adams, Illustrated by Amy Wummer. This board book is perfect for your youngest readers in the family. Fun art and engaging questions will help kids remember what Christmas is and what it isn’t.
