I Love My White Shoes

I see mamas searching high and low for homeschool curriculum for three and four-year-olds. Mamas chill!
Learning should be fun at any age but especially if you’re little. I am confident, Moms, you can do this without spending a lot of money on worksheets for your babies. Doesn’t this Pete the Cat book look fun? He loves his white shoes. This book is available in most libraries and online. What’s so special about this book about a cat with white shoes?
- This book’s got rhythm.
- The text is large and colorful like the cover.
- The text is repetitive.
- Pete steps in stuff with colors
- Pete fixes the problem
- And it’s all good
Sound like a book your child would like to have read to them? Let me get you started. Pete is walking along singing his song when –
Oh no! He steps in a large pile of …… strawberries! What color does it turn his shoes? (Turn the page)
RED Did Pete cry? Goodness , no!
And so the story goes with Pete stepping in first one thing and then another. It comes to a resolution, sort of, when he steps in a bucket of water. What color does it turn his shoes?
This book is so fun, so sing-songy that the whole family will have it going around in their heads. What’s even more amazing, your little one will want it read over and over. And when you’re not looking they’ll take the book and read it for themselves.
This book can be used to teach colors to the youngest children. It’s easy to teach older children to track words with their finger. The letters are large enough for the children to see, so they will easily identify letters and beginning sounds if they’re ready, like 4 or 5, or maybe 6 or 7. This is curriculum for preschoolers. Fun, hilarious, accidental learning. Oh, the author is Eric Litwin. He has other Pete the Cat books too. James Dean, the illustrator, has beginning reader books for your older children.
Gail Cartee is tying on an old pair of white shoes. Now let’s go outside and step in big piles of squishy, colorful stuff.
