Putting a parent’s love into words. A book to explain how we feel.
Putting love into words and describing a parent’s love is no easy task. Some Christian children’s authors entertain us with their books. Some help educate us. Today I want to share a book that communicates how much we love our children. What if storytime provided you with a moment when you could read a book that tells your children and grandchildren how you feel about them? A mother’s and grandmother’s love is something hard to describe. I think it is even harder for a child to understand. That is why I love this new book by Sue Schlesman. She has put a parent’s love into words. I can’t wait to tell you more.
Meet Sue Schlesman
Like me, Sue is a former school teacher, mother, and grandmother. She knows and understands kids. She also understands children’s literature. She is an award-winning author of both fiction and non-fiction books. Her multiple awards include the Selah Award, The Golden Scroll Book of the Year, and the Illumination Award. She is also the author of the award-winning Compassion Storybook Bible, co-written with our own Crystal Bowman.
Putting love into words and pictures
Sue’s newest book, I Love You More Than the Day Before, is sure to be just as big. This heartwarming picture book published by EA Books Publishing celebrates the ever-growing love between a mother and her child. Each page captures meaningful moments of raising a child, from seeing them smile to crying real tears. It journeys through the seasons of the year as it follows the seasons of life. As you read this book to your children, you will relive everyday experiences and unforgettable milestones.
Additionally, Alexandra Rutkowski’s beautiful watercolor illustrations capture each moment in the most meaningful way. This book is Alexandra’s debut as a children’s book illustrator, and as soon as you own it, you will want other books that include her unforgettable illustrations.
A book to grow with
We all know that children grow up way too quickly. The baby we once rocked to sleep becomes the toddler who opens cupboards and scatters toys across the floor. Then an independent child heading off to school will too soon be the teenager following dreams of their own. Only a mother knows how our love deepens as we watch our babies grow. But with this book, we can attempt to explain that love to our children. Sclesman has put a parent’s love into words. I promise you will want to take this book off the shelf and read it with your children again and again.
Available in softcover and hardback on Amazon and wherever books are sold, I Love You More Than the Day Before is also a perfect gift for a baby shower, a child’s birthday, Mother’s Day, Baby Dedication, or anytime a child is experiencing a new season or transition. Don’t let the opportunity pass to put into words and tell your children how much you love them. I promise the moments you spend reading this book with your children will do more than entertain and educate. They will know that you love them more than the day before.

I just received my copy and absolutely love this book! It’s a heart tugger and really captures the love a mother (and grandmother) has for their child. As if the words are enough–the illustrations do even more to capture the warmth and beauty of this priceless book!
