Creator of All by Dr. Anita Azeem
In a world full of chaos, division, and hatred, Creator of All by Dr. Anita Azeem reminds children about one basic truth—all lives are worthy and precious in God’s sight. Azeem reminds children and caregivers alike that God does not have any favorites and his everlasting love is for everyone. Engaging colorful illustrations will appeal to the children.
Dr. Anita Azeem is an expert in Social and Developmental Psychology and is inspired by her own two children, one of whom has special needs. This book has a heart and soul which speaks to children and adults alike. While the book is written for children, it can be equally beneficial for adults who may be struggling to understand the magnitude of Christ’s love.
Q. What was your driving motivation or purpose in writing this book?
A. While working on this book, I had two purposes: The first is to help the young audience (8-12 years old) understand that God does not prefer some people groups over the other. Each chapter in the book addresses a different social group—age, race, gender, social status etc… I hope that children will learn to see ‘others’ with love rather than bias after reading this book.
My second purpose of writing this book is to help children realize their own worth. In times when media is overloaded with messages that leave children doubting their value, Creator of All reminds them that Jesus died on the cross for them and that they—regardless of what they look like, or what they may or may not be able to do—they are loved deeply by God.
Q: What other books have you written?
A: I have written two other books, Words: Spoken and Unspoken Forces and Journey of the Mind. I have to admit that writing Creator of All for children was the most difficult one to write. I had to edit it several times because I am accustomed to writing journal articles and academic posts. I have never written for children before. I felt the need to ask my 9-year-old daughter Adaiah to review the manuscript for me. She pointed out several words that would be too hard for children to understand. That was a huge help! Speaking of my daughter, she was the driving force behind this book. Adaiah was only three years old; she asked me why her skin color was different from that of her friends.
Q: Tell me more. Where were you when she noticed her skin color was different?

A: My husband Aroon, the children Adaiah and Aryeh and I were living in New Zealand at that time (our family is originally from Pakistan). She had started to wonder what it meant to be different. This book was my way of reaching out to many other children who may have similar questions.
I have to add that teaching psychology in three countries (Pakistan, New Zealand and US) has helped me learn so much about people around the world. We may be different in many ways, but if we try and find common grounds, we will be able to find many ways in which we are alike.
Q: Do you have anything else you would like to add?
A: With this book, my goal is to help children see past their differences with others and be able to find their similarities. I hope it helps to reduce bias—and that’s what social psychology also tells us. This book truly is a labor of love- my love for Jesus, children, and Psychology. I pray that it will bless many families.
