GREAT BOOKS FOR CHRISTIAN KIDS — FORMAT Part 2
We are continuing a series of posts on the topic of great books for Christian kids. The first in the series was here.
Last time, we looked at these formats:
- Books with Drawings
- Books with Pictures
- Books with Headings and Subheadings
You can read about them here.
There are lots of ways to look at the format of books, especially books for kids. What about some of the wildly popular formats that are filling the children’s sections of bookstores and school book fairs?
Activity Books
Children’s craft and activity books are very popular right now.
Craft books offer children and their family directions for how to create anything from bookmarks to picture frames. What a great format to use with kids as Christmas approaches. Everyone wants to make a special gift for Grandma, and she is sure to treasure it.
Consider buying craft books for the children on your shopping list as gifts. The winter months are coming. That season presents the perfect time to stay in, stay warm, and create something fun.
Doodle Books
Kids are drawn (no pun intended) to doodle books. Given an engaging topic, they can write or sketch their ideas. Anything goes on the page: diary entries, lists, cartoons, intricate drawings, etc.
Doodle books offer kids a way to express their thoughts on a topic.
Coloring Books
Kids have always loved coloring books. Now they are recognized as a way to relax. Everyone needs a break from time to time. Sitting down with a coloring book and some fun crayons, markers, or colored pencils is one way to do that — rain or shine.
What about the kids in your life? What fun formats do they like?
I’m heading off to a book signing today. If you run into an author at a book store, beside to stop and chat. We love to talk to our readers.
